Summer Institute: Investing in the Early Childhood Workforce

Calling all educators to George Brown College's beautiful new Waterfront Campus on Thursday June 12th for the 11th annual Summer Institute.

Dr. Jan Peeters, Coordinator of the Centre for Innovation in the Early Years of the Department of Social Welfare Studies, Ghent University (Belgium) shares the latest international trends and evidence on the early childhood workforce.

Panelists include ECE advocates and researchers Jane Bertrand and Jamie Kass on developments in the early childhood workforce across Canada and suggested strategies for a professionally recognized workforce. Associate Deputy Minister Jim Grieve updates on the latest developments in Ontario.

Our workshop series features the latest research and tools for educator training and leadership and program quality and delivery lead by Monica McGlynn-Stewart, Kimberly Bezaire, Elaine Winick, Sue Corke, Emis Akbari, Zeenat Janmohamed, Romona Gananathan, Michal Perlman, Anne Hepditch, Shelly Mehta, Mia Elfenbaum and Rachel Langford.

The afternoon is devoted to making change. Facilitated roundtables discuss strategies to meet the workforce demands for improved training, infrastructure supports and professional remuneration.
