Building ECE Power for Change Workshop - Peterborough

Would you like to be part of a local Community of Practice working with the AECEO and our partners to build an ECE led movement? Join Olivia Chow and AECEO Coordinator Lyndsay Macdonald for Building ECE Power for Change! An engaging workshop on leadership and community organizing.

This workshop is an excellent opportunity for those working in the early years and child care sector who are interested in taking up an active role in the professional pay and decent work campaign. Participants will gain the skills and confidence to engage others, to become leaders in their community and to champion positive change in the early years and child care sector.

Participants will learn:

  • Gain self-confidence to tell your story to motivate others
  • Use your story to engage with politicians, political candidates and voters
  • Recruit and retain supporters and volunteers to work towards a common goal
  • Build strong Communities of Practice (CoP) that foster leadership among RECEs, staff and parents

Participants will take away skills and knowledge that can be used to organize a Community of Practice (CoP) or local team in Peterborough as part of the AECEO's provincial campaign for professional pay and decent work.

About the AECEO's Professional Pay & Decent Work Campaign

Since 2013 the AECEO's Professional Pay & Decent Work Campaign has been successfully engaging and organizing hundreds of RECEs, early years staff, parents and community members in Ontario to advocate for all children and families to have access to quality affordable early years and child care programs where RECEs and staff are well-supported with professional pay and decent work. The overarching goal of this campaign is to build and sustain an ECE led movement for decent work. The campaign is a project funded by the Atkinson Foundation Decent Work Fund. Our project partners include the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care (OCBCC), Institute for Change Leaders (ICL) and Atkinson Centre for Society and Child Development.
