We want to hear from YOU! We are so excited to announce our new research project, "What is it like to be an ECE and child care worker?" If you work in early learning & child care, we want to learn about you, your experiences in ECE and what you need to feel supported in you work! Your perspective and lived experiences are so important to us and your participation in this research will help us understand the sector, and will impact the direction and focus of our work. 

By participating in this study, you are actively using your knowledge and expertise to inform the recommendations the AECEO will bring to government consultations, regulation change proposals and other policy developments that directly shape the work of early childhood educators & child care workers.

The AECEO wants to hear from every corner of the Ontario ECE sector: RECEs, child care/EarlyON staff, home child care providers... almost everyone currently working in ELCC can participate in this research. - Why is the AECEO conducting this research study?
Our role as the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario is to represent the interest of the ECE profession. In order to best serve this purpose, the AECEO is looking to hear directly from early childhood educators, child care workers and members of the early years workforce. The findings from this study will inform recommendations and responses to government consultations and guide how the AECEO advocates for Ontario ECEs.

- Who should participate in this study?
RECEs (in every setting: kindergarten, child care, specialized programs, EarlyON, etc), assistants, support staff, home child care providers... If you work with young children in an educational/care setting, you are likely eligible to participate! We want to hear from people currently working in early learning & child care from every corner of Ontario. You do not need to be a member of the AECEO or registered with the CECE to participate in this research. 

- What kind of information do participants need to share?
The survey contains demographic questions (to give us an idea of who is currently working in ELCC) and questions about your experiences at work, including questions about the logistics and physical environment of your workplace. Your participation in this study is completely private and your responses will not be identifiable to you.

- What are the benefits of participating in this research? 
This research study is an opportunity for you to share your work experiences and tell us what you need to feel supported, recognized and valued in your role. By participating, you are actively using your knowledge and expertise to advocate for your profession.

- Why is there a prize draw associated with this study?
As an incentive for people to fill out the survey, and to thank you for taking the 20-30 minutes needed to complete the questionnaire, participants will be entered into a draw. Five lucky winners will be picked at random and announced in the Spring. Prizes include a mini iPad & gift cards!
