CCEYA Proposed Amendments - Response Tools

On October 2, the Ministry of Education released Proposed Regulatory Amendments resulting from its 5-year review of the Child Care and Early Years Act. Submissions/feedback on these amendments is due by November 20th. Many of the proposed amendments would be detrimental to the early years and child care sector and the profession of early childhood education, and are not in the best interest of children, families, educators, or the future of the sector.

The AECEO will be responding to these proposals as an organization and, along with our partners the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care, have created a survey to gather feedback from the ECEC sector on the proposals to help shape our response. We encourage all educators, operators and child care providers to take 10 minutes to have your say. Your voice matters. Please also share amongst your networks.

It is also extremely important that the Ministry hear directly from those who work in the sector, parents and allies on these changes. So we have created an easy template to help you send in your response, by email to: [email protected], or by mail to: Regulatory Registry Feedback c/o Early Years and Child Care Division Ministry of Education 315 Front Street West, 11th Floor Toronto ON M7A 0B8.

We have also created a short analysis of the most significant and concerning proposals to help inform you in preparing your own response to the Ministry.

Please remember to cc or send a copy to either [email protected], or [email protected] – this will help us hold the government accountable to the feedback they are receiving.
