$10aDay Guidebook

Crystal Creamer completed a placement with the AECEO in the Fall of 2024 as part of the Early Childhood Studies program at Toronto Metropolitan University. Crystal’s placement project is a guidebook about the $10aDay child care program and advocacy. This guidebook was a collaboration between Crystal and Keerthana Ratnarajah, who completed a student placement with the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care.

The realities of ECE burnout

Zuhal Hashemi completed a placement with the AECEO in the Fall of 2024 as part of the Early Childhood Studies program at Toronto Metropolitan University. Zuhal’s placement project consisted of a social media post about the realities of ECE burnout.

Increased wages promote Early Childhood Educators’ mental health

Dinah Boateng completed a placement with the AECEO in the Fall of 2024 as part of the Early Childhood Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber. Dinah’s placement project is an booklet on the impact of wages on the mental health and well-being of early childhood educators and the outcomes of supporting ECEs.

Mental health stigma within the Early Childhood sector

As part of her research internship in her degree program, RECE & author Ishaa Vinod Chopra took a closer look at the narratives surrounding mental health within the Early Childhood Sector.  Ishaa’s research is on the topic of how mental health is perceived within early childhood spaces, taking a closer look at question 6 on the renewal form from the College of ECEs, the statement released by the AECEO regarding the matter (available on the AECEO website under AECEO Reports, Statements & Public Policy Submissions) and the Ontario Human Rights Code.

AECEO Panel Discussion – A chat about student experiences

This special student panel took place virtually on April 22nd, 2024.

In this AECEO panel discussion, SECEO leads Camila Casas and Tammy Primeau-McNabb are joined by Lish Francoeur, Jade Lillace and Grace Wolfe. Panelists were invited to share about their experiences as students and as recent graduates from post-secondary early childhood programs in Ontario.

Scrapbooking & Calligraphy with UGH students

AECEO placement student Tanuja Bhadreenaught hosted a super fun Scrapbooking & Calligraphy event for Early Childhood Studies students at University of Guelph-Humber as part of her work with the AECEO team. With the support from Community Organizer Jess Tomas, Tanuja collaborated with UGH faculty and peers to host an event for students to learn about advocacy and about the AECEO community.
