Alyana Nonan and Steffany Bonilla completed a field placement with the AECEO in the Fall of 2025 as part of the Early Childhood Education diploma program at George Brown College. As part of their placement, Aly and Steffany held a booth event at GBC to share information about the AECEO and ECE advocacy with other students.

Sharon Liu completed a placement with the AECEO in the Spring-Summer of 2025 as part of the Bachelor of Early Learning & Community Development program at Algonquin College. For her placement project, Sharon created multiple social media shareables based on articles and reports she read during her placement. These posts will be available on the AECEO Instagram and Facebook pages.

Love letters to the ECE profession

Victoria Simmonds completed a placement with the AECEO in the Spring-Summer of 2025 as part of the Bachelor of Early Learning & Community Development program at Algonquin College. For her placement project, Victoria invited fellow educators to share about the love and the hardships they face in the field. Victoria’s project was originally created to be a social media shareable, and will be available on the AECEO Instagram and Facebook.

Constrained Voices: Examining Power Dynamics and Systemic Barriers to the Agency and Autonomy of Racialized Early Childhood Educators in Professional settings

Lois John completed a placement with the AECEO in the Spring-Summer of 2025 as part of the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education program at George Brown College. For her placement project, Lois conducted a literature review exploring existing research addressing the systemic barriers and power dynamics that shape the professional experiences of racialized ECEs, focusing on how these factors impact their agency and autonomy within the field.

Global Wage Strategies for Early Childhood Educators

Ashlyn Tomasini completed a placement with the AECEO in the Spring-Summer of 2025 as part of the Bachelor of Early Learning & Community Development program at Algonquin College. For her placement project, Ashlyn compared the strategies governments in Australia, New Zealand and Ontario are taking to improving compensation for early childhood educators.

Shaping Care: Ontario Policies & ECE Advocacy

Hannah Sanderson completed a placement with the AECEO in the Spring of 2025 as part of the Early Childhood Studies program at Toronto Metropolitan University. As part of her placement, Hannah created an infographic explaining how policies shape early learning and child care in Ontario, and how the AECEO works to support ECEs in the policy development process. The AECEO team helped create a social media version of Hannah’s infographic to help reach more people.
