By signing below you are showing support for the professional pay for professional work campaign and will receive updates!

The overarching goal of this campaign is to address the long-standing issue of low and inequitable compensation for early childhood educators (ECEs) in Ontario. We are calling on the government to fund professional pay for all ECEs in Ontario regardless of where they work. Professional pay should reflect ECEs’ specialized training, the value of their work and their participation in continuous professional learning.

No ECE should have to work for less than a professional wage and all ECEs should be recognized for their professional qualifications and practice.

For more information on the campaign please see http://www.aeceo.ca/professional_pay_for_professional_work

Living and working as an Early Interventionist in a rural First Nation community requires me to become proficient and trained in many different disciplines needed to service our surrounding communities. Support to our parents, schools and service providers comes in many varying roles and responsibilities. I enjoy these many challenging aspects of my role to our community and have received many more positive and encouraging feedback. Although because of the lower wages and increased responsibilities, we are suffering with inconsistent staffing affecting the relationships, policies and work with our all important children. Again it is the education and relationships that suffer in these northern communities. Miigwich for the opportunity to voice my opinion and observations to those who have the power to be involved fully.

Please keep us informed for the future of the children and the Early Years Campaign.

We as Ece’s love our job and spend so much time engaging with the children we look after. It is disheartening and disappointing to see with all the education we have and the amount of work we put in, our pay is so low. I know people in retail who make more as a sales person. Our wages must be increased.
