SUPERVISOR
CHAMPIONS CHILDREN'S CENTRE
Champions is a non-profit childcare centre located in Grenoble Public School in the Don Mills/Eglinton area, offering care to children aged 2.5 through 12 years.
POSITION OVERVIEW: Supervisor/RECE Diploma plus some Supervisory experience an asset.
Successful candidate must be able to assist the Executive Director and be able to balance time on and off the floor. This position gives the candidate the opportunities to learn the full aspects of childcare while enabling the candidate to understand the Executive Directors role in order to assist and perform certain aspects of the ED’s duties when the Executive Director is absent.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Vast experience work with children aged 2.5 through 12 years, with a focus on KG/Schoolage
- Ability and Knowledge of supervising of staff, program and children
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to children, parents, staff and school personnel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the CCEYA, AQI and Public Health requirements
- Able to use professional judgement all within the guidelines set out by the Governing Acts, Regulations, By-Laws and centre Policies and Procedures
- Strong programming skills following children’s needs, incorporating active learning, ELECT, HDLH and anti-bias
- Registered and in good standings with the College of RECE
- Holds current first aid and CPR certification
- Employees must provide a clear health assessment, including TB test
- Working knowledge of Excel, CSIS on the Web and follow through of monthly attendance
- Current CRC including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to communicate and experience with ESL communities is beneficial
- Ability to speak a second language an asset
- Previous Supervisory experience an asset
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Reporting to, and communicating closely with the Executive Director
- Ensuring that all legislation pertaining to the DNA and Operating criteria are implemented
- Working closely with Executive Director and Assist the ED in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the centre
- Lead and Guide staff in the development and implementation of children’s programming
- Ability to work as an effective team member, fostering a child-centered, family-friendly atmosphere
- Assist in age appropriate and positive Behaviour Management of children
- Communicating and supporting families, with a high ESL component and diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Lead in regards to managing external human resources (such as volunteers, students)
- Lead in managing facilities and ensure a safe and healthy environment
- Able to support Executive Director in the implementation of policies and procedures.
