Responsible to maintain a caseload of children who have been referred for Resource Consultant consultative support. Observe, screen, assess and develop a coordinated service plan for each child on the caseload. Monitor the child’s development and recommend/facilitate referrals for additional services if applicable.  Work in collaboration with educators, parent(s)/guardian(s) and community partners, to provide an inclusive early year’s environment that reflects each child’s unique abilities, and supports the child to participate to their full potential. Facilitate the Transition to School process for children entering the elementary school system.     


•Completion of a 2-year community college program with a diploma in Early Childhood Education.
•Post diploma Early Childhood Education Resource Teacher Certificate or a program of studies that is approved by the Director of the Ministry of Education.
•Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in Early Childhood Education or in an inclusive child care/early years program, or other similar environment.
•Must have experience in working with children with special needs.
•Current knowledge of the College of Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
•Proficient knowledge of research based best practice methods, principles and practices in Early Childhood Education.
•Working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and Regulations.
•Thorough h knowledge of the “How Does Learning Happen? “  framework.
•Knowledge of diverse family dynamics and community resources.

Vincent Massey Child Care (VMCC) is inviting applications for a full-time position in our Infant Classroom. The successful candidate will have a strong background in programming developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests. The After School Program Lead works part-time at our After School Program with children in grades 2 to 6. This Program is located near: Black Creek/Jane & Lawrence. Programs run 3 afternoons per week (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays).The hours of work are from approximately 2:30 to 6:00 pm and run through June, 2018.


  • Lead an After School Program for school-age children based on the guidelines provided
  • Plan and organize a safe environment and supervise children to protect their safety and personal well-being at all times while in the program
  • Assist and support children to complete homework and other academic activities (in both groups and one-to-one)
  • Lead physical activity program
  • Design and implement nutrition, cooking, and health information activities
  • Implement social skills curriculum
  • Maintain up-to-date program records (attendance, etc.)
  • Work as part of a team
  • Communicate with parents/caregivers and teachers


  • Graduate of a post-secondary child/youth related field such as Early Childhood Educator, Sport and Leisure, Child and Youth, Social Worker, Psychology, Education, Sociology, Kinesiology, etc
  • Experience working with school-age children in a recreation or academic setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Including excellent written and spoken English
