The Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education - NOMINATION DEADLINE EXTENDED Until January 23, 2012

Do you know an outstanding educator? You now have two more weeks to nominate them for Canada’s most prestigious teaching award.

More and more, Canadians are recognizing the positive impact that quality early childhood education has on a child. Early childhood educators do much more than meet the basic needs of young children as their parents go off to work or school. They teach and nurture children in their early years and have an impact that will last for the rest of their lives.

The Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education is Canada's way of recognizing our best early childhood educators, promote what they have achieved and share their innovative and successful teaching practices. Established in 2002, these awards are the only national awards that recognize the work of early childhood educators.

Guidelines and nomination forms for the 2011-2012 Prime Minister’s Awards are now available.

Download your nomination form today!
Early Childhood Educator Awards are worth up to $5000!

Winners honoured by the Prime Minister.

For 2011-2012: a new certificate will be awarded to a full-time Early Childhood Education Director.

Please spread the word, and help ensure that more outstanding Canadian educators receive the recognition they deserve!

Early Years Study 3 Released

November 22, 2011
The Early Years Study 3 was released today during a launch event held at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. One of the report’s authors, Kerry McCuaig, was on hand at the launch to speak to the highlights of the report and answer questions from the Early Learning and Child Care community.

One of the last works by the late Dr. J. Fraser Mustard, this important report outlines the compelling evidence supporting investment in the early years. Dr. Mustard’s relentless advocacy for the importance of early childhood education should not be forgotten. We, in the early learning and care sector, have a responsibility to the families and children we work with to continue striving for a fundamental change in early years policy. This report will provide all the arguments you need to convince policy and decision makers that the time for change is now. We urge our members to read this report and share it with their colleagues and families. http://earlyyearsstudy.ca/

ABOUT THE STUDY

The Early Years Study 3 details the current state of Canadian families with young children and provides the social, economic and scientific rationale for increased public investments in early childhood education. Early Years Study 3 is the third collaboration headed by the late Dr. J. Fraser Mustard, a world leader in the field of early childhood, in collaboration with the Honourable Margaret Norrie McCain, and Kerry McCuaig, Senior Policy Fellow at the Atkinson Centre, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto.
