THE PROCESS: LETTER OF EQUIVALENCY
This process is for Canadian trained early childhood education professionals who have relevant educational credentials but did not graduate from any of the following programs*:
1. Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (OCAAT) ECE diploma program
2. Programs listed on the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) Approved Post Secondary Program List
*If you have graduated from a program listed above you may be eligible to apply directly to the College of Early Childhood Educators for membership registration. Visit their website or call 1-888-961-8558 for more information.

WHAT IS EQUIVALENCY?
A process that reviews an applicant’s prior education and practical experience towards gaining an AECEO Equivalency Certificate. The AECEO and L’AFESEO Letter of Equivalency Certificates An AECEO Letter of Equivalency is recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators as meeting the educational qualification component of the application process for membership in the College.
The College of Early Childhood Educators is the governing professional regulatory body for Early Childhood Educators in Ontario. All individuals working within the scope of practice or using the professional title of “Early Childhood Educator” or “Registered Early Childhood Educator”, as defined by the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007, must be a registered member of the College of Early Childhood Educators.

New as of April 1, 2009 * Predetermined course prescription for graduates of Ontario Child and Youth Worker diploma , Social Service Worker Diploma, Bachelor of Education/Primary Education, Bachelor of Arts Child Studies Major.
