In our effort to support a better understanding of the role of early childhood educators among parents and the general public the AECEO developed a primer entitled “Early Childhood Educators & Your Child”. Funded through the Trillium Foundation the primer is meant to give a general understanding of what is an ECE professional and the important role they play in full day kindergarten.

When developing the primer we specifically paid close attention to the fact that the majority of parents in this province have had little to no exposure to licensed child care or ece professionals. The primer therefore serves as an introduction to the profession and the valuable contribution we make to the kindergarten classroom.

The AECEO is currently in the process of developing a distribution plan that will enable us to get this information into the hands of parents across the province. Many of our education sector partners have already expressed interest in assisting us with the venture.

The AECEO also worked in conjunction with L’AFESEO (our francophone sister organization) to ensure a French primer was also produced. The French primer is now available.
