The AECEO is seeking an Interim Coordinator for the new year

Position:  Interim Coordinator, Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario (AECEO)

Application Deadline:  January 15th, 2016

Reports to:  AECEO Board of Directors

General Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the organization’s activities, projects, policy development, and strategic planning
  • Develop and execute strategies to effectively communicate with members and the ECE community
  • Assist in preparing presentations and submissions to legislators, policy makers and others
  • Report on major activities and campaigns to the board of directors and membership
  • Represent AECEO at public functions and with the media

The Interim Coordinator will be responsible for the following: 

  • Develop and coordinate advocacy campaigns including concept and ideas, timelines, written materials, other resources and evaluation
  • Coordinate and implement all funded projects and ensure positive relationships with funders and project partners
  • Develop and execute membership recruitment activities including outreach and marketing
  • Monitor public policy developments that affect early childhood educators at all levels of government
  • Research and develop communications regarding sector developments and public policy that affects early childhood educators
  • Develop and coordinate outreach materials including policy briefs, targeted communications and general promotional materials
  • Prepare and make presentations to membership, government and the media regarding AECEO concerns, positions and policy recommendations


  • Post secondary school education at college or university in a relevant discipline
  • Knowledge of early childhood education and its operations at all levels of government;
  • Experience in lobbying and advocacy of government
  • Ability and interest in public speaking to a wide range of groups
  • Ability to work with membership and the public from diverse social, ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds
  • Experience in community development and working in a non-profit organization with a board of directors
  • Ability to work independently and within team environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
  • Excellent facilitation, leadership and time management skills
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various parts of the province (preferred)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Proficient computer skills
