Applicant Steps - What to Expect

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING AECEO EQUIVALENCY SERVICES PLEASE READ March 17, 2010 Notice

NOTE: As of July 31, 2010, the AECEO no longer accepts new applications to the AECEO equivalency process and bridging program. For Individual credential assessment, please contact the College of Early Childhood Educators (www.collegeofece.on.ca)

This page is designed to give you an idea of the steps to equivalency for bridging applicants. Please note that the process may vary depending on your experience and qualifications.

The time this process takes depends on your individual qualifications and experience.

Please note: We are currently experiencing an extremely high volume of applicants. Your patience is appreciated at this time.

Step #1: Read AECEO Equivalency Information and Application Guide

Step #2: Submit Application and supporting documentation
You will receive a letter acknowledging receipt of your application within two weeks. Ensure all supporting documentation is included; missing documentation will prolong the process. Please refer to checklist in the handbook.

Step #3: Demonstrate English language competency
Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) Level 7 is needed

Step #4: Write ECE knowledge exam
The exam is a mandatory part of the application process. You will be notified of exam dates once you reach this step.

Step #5: Wait for your assessment results
Once your application, documentation, and exam results have been assessed, you will receive a letter indicating your next steps. The majority of applicants are prescribed upgrading courses that must be successfully completed at an OCAAT College in order to receive their Letter of Equivalency.

Step #6: Finishing the program
After you successfully complete your prescribed training, your pathway will be different depending on what pathway you are on. See the flow chart below for an idea
