Our workforce strategy recommendations call for a wage scale that starts at a $25 minimum for a new RECE with no experience – the wage scale would increase from there.

  • commented on AECEO Responds to Wage Increase Announcement 2015-10-14 10:12:18 -0400
It is unfortunately true that the Government’s funding for the wage increase extends only to the hours actually worked, not to the all hours that are paid – even Statutory Holidays are not included. Also employers now have been granted the discretion to pay out the retroactive amounts in one lump sum by December 31, 2015. The AECEO’s position is that all paid hours should be included in the wage grant and we will be submitting our advice to the government in the next few weeks. As well, an article on the implementation of the wage grants which outlines some of the difficulties and proposed solutions is in the fall issue eceLINK (http://www.aeceo.ca/ecelink)

Thank you for sending us your feedback.

By signing below you are showing support for the professional pay for professional work campaign and will receive updates!

The overarching goal of this campaign is to address the long-standing issue of low and inequitable compensation for early childhood educators (ECEs) in Ontario. We are calling on the government to fund professional pay for all ECEs in Ontario regardless of where they work. Professional pay should reflect ECEs’ specialized training, the value of their work and their participation in continuous professional learning.

No ECE should have to work for less than a professional wage and all ECEs should be recognized for their professional qualifications and practice.

For more information on the campaign please see http://www.aeceo.ca/professional_pay_for_professional_work
